POSITION TITLE: Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager
LOCATION/DEPT.: DHQ/Development and Communications Department
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Digital Marketing Manager
OUTCOMES
The Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager will be responsible for implementing branded digital content for Corps Community Centers within The Salvation Army Chicago Metropolitan Division.
The Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager must have experience in producing original content for marketing strategies and programs. This includes working in collaboration with cross-team staff, vendors, and volunteers to manage content for all digital platforms including direction for all Corps Community Center websites, email, social media, peer to peer and mobile platforms.

                      • Responsibilities:
                        ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

                      • Website and Search Engine Optimization Management
                          • Manage all Corps websites based on localized content provided by each Corps and the creation of compelling local content and or stories.
                          • Maintain a macro content calendar for the digital marketing department.
                          • Ensure content is branded, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice while also optimized for search and user personas across all (digital) channels.
                          • Increase engagement with brand by creating content that provides value to readers and is worth sharing; including text copy, images, photography, and video.
                          • Define the KPIs for each program and track against performance.
                          • Maintain and evolve content themes and pillars.
                          • Distribution divisional relevant content throughout all websites as needed.
                          • Develop and create an overall SEO strategy and structure to optimize the content of divisional website and all Corps.
                      • E-mail Marketing

                        • Implement and deploy monthly e-newsletters for non-City Fund Corps providing content that is branded and compelling to our audiences.
                      • Manage annual Online Red Kettle peer to peer campaigns for Corps including:

                        • Online Kettle setup.
                        • Assisting in identifying a kettle manager for each unit.
                        • Training of all kettle managers.
                      • Social Media Community Management

                        • Manage all social media channels for the Metropolitan Divisional Headquarters, Corps and programs, including measurement on deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
                        • Manage strategic planning, support and implementation to leverage social media as an important element of our digital marketing programs, both organic and paid.
                        • Manage content development, editorial calendar, and channel distribution for all social channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and Google +
                        • Manage paid content for social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
                        • Daily monitor and moderate channels, and act as a brand ambassador by interacting with our followers on social communities.
                        • Identify, document and build relationships with key influencers to generate brand exposure and interaction via advocates and fans.
                        • Utilize social media analytics to optimize campaigns and provide clear recommendations on how to further grow engagement.
                        • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the branding/voice of all our social media outlets are cohesive with other channels and initiatives.
                        • Have knowledge of social media industry trends.
                        • Document and streamline social media workflows and guidelines.
                        • Assist in the creation and implementation of Social Media Protocols and Community Management manual.
                        • Focus on ROI and continual optimization and improvement of social activity.
                        • Provide technical support for social media administrators.
                      • Additional Duties

                        • Assist with other projects as assigned.

                        This individual interacts with a wide range of contacts within The Salvation Army and in these

                        contacts must act as a representative of the Army and its Mission.

                        SUPERVISION RECEIVED

                        Under general supervision of the Web Marketing Manager with considerable freedom to plan,

                        schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines.

                        PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

                        The individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

                        Qualifications:
                        EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

                        • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field required.
                        • A minimum of five years of digital marketing experience, content management and SEO and content strategy development across all (digital) channels.
                        • A minimum of five years of expertise in social strategies, technologies, content management, platforms, services and measurement techniques.
                        • Demonstrated experience creating and executing a social media strategy that builds fan base, increases engagement and drives conversion.
                        • Strong skills in graphic design and image editing.
                        • Experience in photography and video editing.
                        • Analytical-minded and well-versed with social media analytical tools and reporting.
                        • Strong copywriting skills leveraging SEO/SEM techniques.
                        • Extensive experience in social media copywriting and community management.
                        • Must be a self-starter with the ability to excel in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision.
                        • Availability to be listening for actionable social/community chatter beyond traditional office hours.
                        • Deliver actionable insights and specific recommendations on how to improve social/community activity by monitoring and analyzing conversations.
                        • In-depth knowledge of the Internet and business software (Microsoft Office) as well as Internet procedures is essential including:
                          • WordPress or other content management system expertise; including themes and CSS.
                          • Experience with Adobe Creative Suites (in particular: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign).
                          • Experience with social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn and Vimeo.
                          • Experience working with Google Analytics or similar Web Analytic software.
                          • Experience in e-philanthropy and/or e-marketing though online management tools such as Convio or Blackbaud.
                          • Knowledge of webinars, webcasts and the RSS feeds
                          • Knowledge of Internet marketing best practices, SEO, Analytics, ethics and legislation.
                          • Must be Google Adwords certified.
                        • Valid Driver’s License and MVR clearance of The Salvation Army’s MVR process.

                        • Willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army.

                        POSITION LIMITATIONS

                        This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.

                        This individual will keep the Digital Marketing Manager informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.

                        This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

                        PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

                        This position is required to do moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level. Must be able to travel to multiple sites and locations.
