Logistics Activity Scheduler job – The Dow Chemical Company – Pontiac, MI


Mycogen Seeds, a wholly-owned affiliate of Dow AgroSciences (DAS) has an opening for right individual to fill the role of Logistics Activity Scheduler in Pontiac, Illinois. The Logistics Activity Scheduler supports the Warehouse Inventory Coordinator (WIC), assisting with seeds plant warehouse operations.

The Logistics Activity Scheduler (LAS) is a key member of the Pontiac team, with responsibilities towards ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety of warehouse operations and the highest level of service for our customers. In this position, the LAS works closely with and supports other on/off-site personnel in the management of warehousing processes, to consistently establish the highest standards in the industry for safety, seed quality, cost, and supply reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning:
Manage the day-to-day work execution and scheduling based on shipping and overall warehouse needs, and works with WIC to execute plan.

Provides consultation and guidance on logistics and work process issues with 3rd party logistics providers.

Quality and Financial Control: Takes proactive/timely approach to ensure inventory is in appropriate quality status in SAP.

Supports inventory reconciliations, compliance audits, physical inventories, and obsolete materials disposals are performed, and that any write-offs are fully documented and handled in accordance with the documented business rules.

Day to Day Operations:
Maintains compliance of daily operation of the warehouse and carriers with the Site Logistics Work Process and supports Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) goals across all modes of transport and storage.

Accountable for overall inventory record accuracy and ensures that the performance metrics (Opportunity Tracking System (OTS), Warehouse Inventory Record Accuracy (WIRA), On Time (OTD)), and Internal Warehouse Productivity Performance) are being met.

Support and actively contribute to Root Cause Investigations. May also be responsible for implementing Corrective Actions.

May also be required to flex responsibilities to work in field or plant production with the Quality group.

Continuous Improvement:
Contributes and participates in process improvement efforts by identifying, analyzing and measuring improvements to key processes and procedures.

Identifies opportunities to minimize cost-to-serve through process improvements.

Manage data in SAP ERP Central Component (ECC), Excel and other electronic formats.

Writing and updating job procedures, assisting in the training of new employees, and participating on continuous improvement teams.

Comply with all DAS Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations and policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of One year of experience working in the Seed industry.

Planning and organizational skills to prioritize with ability to handle multiple time sensitive tasks.

Demonstrated problem solving abilities.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills are required to foster team work and enhance the working environment.

Strong sense of urgency and commitment to succeed.

Team focused approach to activities.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills that can be sustained in high pressure/high stress situations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be coachable, meet deadlines, pay close attention to detail, and fully embrace safety and regulatory compliance guidelines.

Must be proficient with computers, able to use Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Strong mathematical skills.

Ability to work extended hours and seasonal shift work.

Ability to work in field and warehouse conditions, with exposure to seasonal environment.

Ability to perform physical labor, to include lifting 50 lbs. Must successfully complete physical capabilities exam (lifting 50 lbs.) as required.

Current, valid driver’s license.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior seeds warehouse or production experience.

Prior agricultural experience is preferred.

Fork lift experience or willing to learn to operate a fork lift.

Preference for experience working with SAP or similar system.

Associate or higher degree and/or Four or more years of military training/experience, with preference for Agriculture or aligned field of study.

Education:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
