Activity Coordinator

located in

Midland, Michigan

exists to work with plant personnel and expertise centers to coordinate, prioritize, and schedule plant activities in the Sulfonamides East (969/1028 Building) Multiproduct facilities. This encompasses the roles of Operations Activity Coordinator and Maintenance Gatekeeper. The position aligns directly with the Activity Coordination role description for the Operate Plant Work Process (OPWP).

The Sulfonamides East facility encompasses 2 critical assets in the Dow AgroSciences Portfolio, across two buildings 969 & 1028. These assets process 3 different chemistries, with 969 building producing DEDS and 1028 building producing both DHEP/DCEP and Penoxsulam. DHEP/DCEP and DEDs are both intermediates for the Cloransulam and Diclosulam products (produced at 680 bldg) and Penoxsulam is a final product. These products are capturing market share globally and the assets are challenged to meet world demand in three distinct markets (Rice, Corn and Soybeans) while penetrating new markets.

Ensure 100% Compliance of GMISS and RBI inspections

Ensure 100% completion of Compliance Tasks scheduled through CTT/MTL.

Initiate the Management of Change process if warranted.

Manages the Near Miss/Safety Suggestion Tool to ensure ideas provided are appropriately resolved and that the initiator understands the resolution.

Promote use of Most Effective Technology (MET) and specific Operating Discipline related to plant operations.

Participate in key reviews and audits (such as RCPHA, Integrated EH&S audit, MSR’s etc.)


Serve as influential leader supporting the procedure use culture and other plant initiatives within the plant

Recognize personnel for both behavior and performance

Drive and develop the culture to capture unplanned events and act to prevent them

Demonstrate leadership with strong field presence via BBP Observations and PACE implementation

Facilitate morning meetings and tailgates with staff and operations

Participate on Plant teams as appropriate

Produce to Plan/Reliability

Performs the role of Gate Keeper in the Global Maintenance Work Process.

Establish and improve service level agreements with Maintenance.

Serve as the key liaison between Manage Production and GMWP activities.

Ensures work requests are clearly defined, evaluated for value and (if appropriate) scheduled and completed.

Routes work requests originating within the Plant to the appropriate work group or service provider.

Provides feedback to work request initiators on the quality of their work requests

Reviews work status with service providers and originators.

Coordinates work requests to be performed by operations personnel.

Coordinates the timing and scheduling of process equipment preparation and maintenance with the Maintenance Scheduler.

Performs the role of Activity Coordinator in the Operate Plant Work Process

Ensures service requests are value adding and align with the Business, Function, Site, Plant and goals.

Schedule 80% of operations related tasks through Task List & OPD.

Ensures task value analysis is conducted on an annual basis, on all plant tasks to determine Business, Function, Site and Plant goal alignment, value, size and role alignment.

Determines if plans are required for service requests and coordinates resources for plan development.

Determines adequacy of Operating Discipline procedures and plans for new service requests.

Ensures appropriate resources are allocated to perform tasks and activities.

Updates and adjusts the Task List to schedule plant activities.

Ensure the Task List is the source for all plant activities that impact operations.

Ensures Start Up and Shutdown tasks align with plant operations activities.

Inputs the value adding task list to the process for determining normal staffing.

Cost Control Maintenance spending to achieve Maintenance budget plan for the Department.

5 years Operations/manufacturing experience required.

A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee / Refugee.

High school diploma or GED is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with OPWP, GMWP, and associated work process tools is preferred.
