Location: This internship is virtual. Work from home.
Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours a week for 20 weeks (200 hours).
Assist in launching blogs, write blog posts and articles, conduct internet research to find timely articles, and websites, create attention grabbing strategies to increase community awareness, comment on other blogs, and set up Google ads and RSS feeds, research keywords for articles and structure articles for search engine optimization (SEO), promote the website throughout various forms of social media, and assist your team with editing other blog entries. You do not need to be an expert, but rather have a thirst for learning about Poplar Network and growing as a professional writer!
Previous business writing is a plus and previous blogging, and editing experience is desired. Experience with WordPress and/or Drupal is a plus, but not required. Organized, detail-oriented, dependable, excellent verbal and written communication skills; adaptable to changes in projects and priorities, comfort and proficiency with email, the Internet, MS Office, and learning user-friendly software; able to multi-task and work independently; punctual, and able to attend Skype meetings once or twice a week (we will work with your schedule).
In addition to receiving high-level skills and experience that will forward your career goals and immediately increase your prospects for higher-paying, more rewarding jobs, you will also receive mentoring on your résumé, interviewing skills, and professional goals. Any work that is not confidential can be added to your professional portfolio. You will work directly with the Content Writers team and the team supervisor. You will also have frequent input and communications with the Founder of Poplar Network and get the inside, behind-the-scenes view of a virtual company. You will also receive a chance to obtain LEED professional credentials, worth over a thousand dollars, provided to you free of charge by the Founder of Poplar Network. Successful interns will also receive a top-notch letter of recommendation and referrals to important business and employment contacts. In addition, we will gladly help you arrange for academic credit.
