Digital Communications Manager
Develops and implements digital media strategy, including oversight of georgialibraries.org, to increase digital engagement and awareness of activities at the Georgia Public Library Service and in Georgia’s public libraries.
Leads digital and social media strategy and execution, including development of creative, multimedia content for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
Provides guidance, support, and leadership for public library systems in Georgia in regards to digital presence, web content, and social media.
Works with external vendors to ensure satisfactory delivery of web hosting services and oversees content management system for the agency.
Regularly conducts training opportunities to share best practices in digital communications.
Uses data and analytics to drive decisions that will increase effectiveness of email engagement, website and social media assets.
Scans online news media and social media outlets for library-related news to share with library staff statewide via various outlets, including RSS feeds.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Baccalaureate degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or related field. Three years of experience.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the position in order to direct and coordinate work within the department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
- Ability to effectively present information to internal and external customers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of Board and department policies and procedures
Knowledge of IT security and privacy standards
Knowledge of web design and development
Knowledge of federal web compliance standards and regulations
Knowledge of web management best practices
Knowledge of HTML, PHP, MySQL and CSS coding
Knowledge of CMS software packages (particularly Drupal and WordPress)
Knowledge of best practices in social media planning and management
Knowledge of Web layout design and web usability best practices
Knowledge of web server security technology
Skill in image editing and development of multimedia content
Skill in succinct written communication and experience with public relations writing
Skill in writing clear instructions and training materials
Skill in public speaking; knowledge of webcasting software
Skill in decision making and problem solving
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
Advanced web searching and social media skills
Exceptional customer service skills
