American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) seeks a Digital Media Intern. The successful applicant will gain experience in content creation, digital media strategy, and the top issues facing the U.S. wind energy industry today. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Perform critical work to upgrade AWEA’s search engine optimization (SEO) strategy, including but not limited to:

Implementing SEO best practices playbook developed by AWEA consultant

Organizing photos, video and graphics in an online library for staff, members and partner and work to have third party photo syndication services use new, modern photos of wind farms

Increasing engagement by AWEA’s member companies with new resources such as RSS feed

Editing, and adding to, content featured on AWEA’s website and blog

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

AWEA is a collaborative workplace. The individual must be willing and able to work constructively as a part of a team, while also demonstrating timely follow through on individual tasks. Good writing and research skills. Familiar with, or have interest in learning about, the strategic use of social media and strategic digital advertising and content promotion.

AWEA is a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This internship may experience high work demands under tight timelines. Managing priorities and timelines across all departments is critical.

Education and/or Experience

Preferred applicants have experience in either working for campaigns or organizations dedicated to issues focusing on energy, businesses and/or the environment; or are a student attending an accredited university currently seeking to major or minor in energy, businesses and/or the environment.
