Dow AgroSciences has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a

Field Scientist

, located in Pennsylvania, USA or an adjacent state. The purpose of the Field Scientist job is to: (1) plan and implement field research and development programs to validate the field biology and performance of new product concepts; (2) recognize future marketplace needs and influence the development of new product concepts; and (3) provide technical support to maximize sales of new and existing products. The Field Scientist develops and maintains effective relationships with University, academic and private research collaborators, key customers, and other centers of influence; provides commercial technical support; and characterizes new products through self-initiated field trials as well as cooperative research.

Key responsibilities:
Plan and implement field research programs to validate the performance of new products and technologies in development.

Establish research relationships with University, extension and consultant cooperators.

Identify new business opportunities for Dow AgroSciences, keep abreast of market trends, and influence development of new products.

Develop and maintain key contacts within the technical community (university, extension, federal and state agencies, natural resource non-governmental organizations, and industry/commodity associations).

Provide direct technical support to the Dow AgroSciences commercial team.

Promote proper use of Dow AgroSciences products through development and delivery of product stewardship programs.


Basic Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or higher

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or higher in Weed Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Plant Molecular Biology, Agronomy or related Biological Science.

In-depth knowledge of the theories and practices of agricultural science

Demonstrated proficiency in conducting and publishing refereed research.

A working knowledge of agronomic production practices, crop protection, biotechnology, molecular biology and/or plant genetics.

Demonstrated ability to transfer technology through scientific presentation and publication

Practical knowledge of education techniques and experience transferring technical information to diverse audiences.
