Dow AgroSciences Research and Development has an exciting and challenging opening for a

Geospatial Data Engineer

in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The Geospatial Data Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing geospatial databases and large enterprise geospatial web applications.

Key responsibilities include:
GIS technical leadership and system administration of an enterprise Esri ArcGIS environment

Enterprise geodatabase model development, implementation, governance, and support

Script writing for automation of routine GIS tasks and procedures, including data preparation, extract, transform, loading and management of geospatial databases

Design and build custom ArcGIS Desktop geoprocessing solutions using Python/.Net/Esri Model Builder

Processing of large, nationwide raster and transactional geospatial datasets

Implementation of large enterprise wide geospatial applications through development of technical specifications, planning, coding, testing, and quality assurance

Develop and communicate geodata standards, methods, and quality assurance/control processes

Communicate needs to geospatial vendors and manage delivery of solutions

Provide expertise in scoping, planning, execution, and leadership of projects


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop development and deployment

Experience with Esri ArcGIS Online configuration and administration

Experience with ArcGIS Server optimization, tuning, and publishing of REST services

Experience with geospatial databases including architecture, database design, implementation, maintenance, and synchronization

Experience with SQL, Python scripting, Java scripting, and shell scripting

Experience in project management and process improvement

Understanding of data governance practices and principles

Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively to solve complex problems

Demonstrated ability to perform as part of a team to deliver on project requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in geosciences, geographic information systems, or computer sciences or a closely-related field

10+ years of experience working in the GIS field
