MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a complex and dynamic federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), invites applications for the position of Knowledge/Document Manager. Reporting to the Manager of Knowledge Services, which includes the Library and Archives, this position is a creative opportunity to champion organization-wide knowledge and document sharing so that the intellectual capital, research, and experience is shared within the Laboratory and, as appropriate, outside the organization with customers and partners.
MIT Lincoln Laboratory is in search of an experienced Knowledge/Document Manager to help define and operationalize the Laboratory’s Policies and Procedures process and repository. Beginning with the capture of knowledge and implementing processes, this role’s goal is to keep the Laboratory’s Policies and Procedures comprehensive, current, and usable. The candidate will provide knowledge and document management support in an effective manner, multi-tasking and meeting simultaneous deadlines; collaborate with administrators and management on strategy integration efforts, promulgating lessons learned and best practices, and reporting metrics that assess progress; leverage virtual collaboration tools, including the OpenText document management system chats, blogs, wikis, bookmarks, RSS feeds, and IBM eForms.
Lead, plan, develop, and support the implementation of the Laboratory-wide Policies and Procedures strategy and system.
Design and implement tools and technologies to promote knowledge management and collaboration within the enterprise.
Implement and enhance workflows and processes to manage information using collaboration and knowledge management platforms such as OpenText, IBM WebSphere, IBM eForms, and Confluence.
Implement workflows and processes to manage information and knowledge capture using collaboration and knowledge management platforms such as OpenText, IBM eForms, etc.
Discover, capture, and categorize Policies and Procedures information through direct communications with owners and stakeholders.
Improve and manage procedures to effectively and efficiently distribute, disseminate and store pertinent, quality information.
Create and maintain training materials, including live trainings, recordings, user manuals, and reference guides
Work with Laboratory Administration, Service Departments, Knowledge Services, and Research Divisions on strategic directions with regard to an overall Laboratory Knowledge Management Program.
Establish metrics and measurement processes to assess the value of the knowledge base
Monitor trends in the knowledge base and identify gaps
Promote adoption and use of the Policies and Procedures knowledge base
Focus on the time to resolve cases through reuse of prior knowledge
MS in Library and Information Science or Social Science or MBA
Minimum of 3 years of previous experience with Knowledge and Document Management methodology, tools, and deployments
Technical acumen to understand basic to intermediate concepts across multiple software product lines and platforms
Passion for finding ways to improve the customer experience
Demonstrated capabilities in presenting ideas written and orally within a cross-functional environment required
Proven ability to lead across a global organization
Strong project management skills
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
Experience handling sensitive and/or proprietary information
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required
