has an exciting opportunity for a

Laboratory Information Management Systems Developer

. As a Life Sciences Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) developer with Dow AgroSciences (DAS) Research and Development (R&D), you will join a team of other developers and specialists engaged in creating informatics/data management solutions that improve lab operations and enhance decision making. You will regularly interact with bench scientists at DAS R&D, building trusted partnerships enabling collaborative solutions. You will work with project leaders, business analysts, end users and other developers to engineer and enhance LIMS systems at DAS. You will be passionate about the value of information and use your software/LIMS development skills to build systems that realize this value.

This position is located at Dow AgroSciences’ global headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

Job Responsibilities

Listen to customer needs and document requirements

Work in a team setting to identify high priority requirements and propose solutions to meet those requirements

Develop error free, modular applications/programs to meet user requirements

Develop user friendly application interfaces

Enhance and improve existing systems through new feature releases

Troubleshoot applications to detect and fix bugs and other common issues

Query databases(tables) to retrieve information for reporting

Develop user friendly reports for decision making

Train end users and system support team for application utilization

Learn about technological advances and present about its applications to R&D

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics (Bioinformatics/Cheminformatics/Health informatics) or a related field

Minimum GPA of 2.7 for graduates within last three years

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics (Bioinformatics/Cheminformatics/Health informatics) or a related field

2+ years of industrial experience within Software Development/Informatics (Bio/Chem/Health)/LIMS development as a consultant/developer/architect

2+ years of experience with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)

1+ years of experience with object oriented programming

1+ years of experience with DBMS, particularly ability to write SQL queries

1+ years of experience with HTML/CSS/XML

1+ years of experience with SOAP/WSDL/REST

1+ years of experience with LabWare LIMS

1+ years of experience with technologies/platforms such as Nautilus, StarLIMS, Electronic Lab Notebook

1+ years of experience in the Lifesciences domain – Ag/ Pharma/ Health Care

Coursework/experience in human computer interaction/user experience design

Knowledge of Computer System Validation/Testing

Ability to build high quality software independently and in a team setting.

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills applied to debug, test and enhance software applications.

Curiosity and learning agility to leverage and implement the best ideas and practices within the Informatics industry and across the life sciences industry including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health care, genomics and others.

Initiative and bias for action – highly motivated to accomplish professional objectives.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
