Job Summary

The Manager, Digital Content/Social Media is responsible for the overall creation and development of news content for the team’s website and will serve as the daily beat writer for the Club. This position will oversee daily editorial coverage and content (print and video) for the team’s website as well as the development and maintenance of the team’s website, applications, and social media platforms. The Manager, Digital Content/Social Media will provide editorial direction for the Club’s news/video production projects and oversee the distribution of content utilizing internal resources. This position will work with Director, Media Relations/Broadcasting on a daily basis to determine team storylines and advance the content production project consistent with company goals & strategies.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate daily with the Director, Media Relations/Broadcasting to determine the top content for the website and other digital properties.
  • Responsible for posting all content to the team’s website, social media platforms and team mobile applications.
  • Responsible for website and applications design/look changes and updates.
  • Consistently review website content for updated content, sharing outdated links and/or pages with the respective content managers and replacing with updated content.
  • Provide primary support for the reporting of website and applications analytics (page views, unique visitors, time spent on site, etc.).
  • Create strategy and execute social media campaigns.
  • Take responsibility for measurement, analytics and reporting, while continually finding ways to improve those metrics through testing and new initiatives.
  • Create content and manage editorial calendars to ensure continuous and optimized presence on social media platforms (i.e. posts, tweets, blogs, videos, RSS feeds, etc.).
  • Recommend appropriate and optimal channels to maximize content delivery to target audiences.
  • Implement social media programs and technology to create innovative and creative campaigns in support of product, brand and marketing initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Strong knowledge of hockey is desirable.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Education and Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications preferred with a minimum of 2 years of experience in news operations required.


  • A minimum of 2 years of reporting/journalism experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of live sports production experience is preferred.
  • Experience in creating web design within a content management system.

Material and Equipment Used:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of video production techniques and operations of print media and broadcast industries is required.
  • Experience in creating web design within a content management system.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey is desirable.
