Position Overview:
Canon Healthcare Optics Research Laboratory is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician Intern from July 2016 through December 2016 to assist in mechanical testing of the key components and materials for medical optical imaging systems.

Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical testing of prototype catheter components and materials to determine if the required specifications are met by utilizing basic statistical analysis.

Build prototype catheter designs using various catheter assembly techniques.

Perform mechanical testing such as tensile, torque and column buckling on the prototypes.

Perform root cause analysis and recommend possible design changes based on testing results.

Coordinate with outside suppliers in the fabrication, assembly and mechanical testing of catheter components.

Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to coordinate daily activities and goals.

Build and improve custom test equipment and fixtures

Present test results in team meetings using PowerPoint or other presentation software.

Qualifications:
Must have availability for Internship from July 2016 until December 2016.

Education: BS or BS expected in mechanical engineering

Experience Required: Mechanical design and testing of mechanical components and materials.

Knowledge on raw materials, machining processes, and quality control.

Skills in design, drafting and analysis using Solid Works or similar 3D CAD.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions, at various levels.
