Position Overview:
Canon USA’s Intellectual Property group is currently seeking a Patent Coordinator to be primarily responsible for handling various patent docketing and administrative tasks.

Review and process all incoming mail and electronic communications

Maintain/update patent database, including maintaining docketing information

Calculate and verify due dates based on US and foreign patent rules

Prepare docket reports

Monitor and maintain attorney/agent dockets

Monitor items for completion and close due dates

Maintain/update electronic and paper files

Assist, as required, in preparing routine legal documents

Provide legal administrative support, as required, for all prosecution issues, including working with Patent Attorney/Agent to file formal papers in a timely manner

Provide legal administrative support, as required, for all intermediate prosecution issues, working with the Patent Attorney/Agent to file formal responses in timely manner as needed

Provide other administrative support to the division as required, including but not limited to, handling purchasing requests, invoice support, and creating advanced word and excel documents models/files.

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus min. 2 years of related patent practice support experience, preferably in docketing.

Requires familiarity with official Patent Office websites (US, WIPO, EP preferred).

Requires familiarity with patent docketing software, preferably ProLaw.

Intermediate MS Office skills preferred.

Excellent organizational skills.

Independent and motivated worker.

Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines.
