Position Overview:
Canon U. S. A., Inc. is currently seeking a Records Program Advisor to join our Melville Corporate office. This Advisor will manage the overall design and support of corporate records, forms and manuals programs within the organization.

Serves as Secretary to an existing Records Retention Committee, which approves all matters pertaining to retention of records­.

Prepares draft retention schedules by (1) meeting with department managers to inventory and discuss department records, (2) drafting retention schedules for the records, (3) meeting again with the managers to review the drafts, (4) preparing final drafts, (5) presenting the final drafts to the Committee for approval, and (6) handling later revisions of approved schedules as required.

Trains at least one person from each department to implement retention schedules by retaining records for the required periods, and then destroying designated records in the office and shipping other designated records to storage.

Controls records sent to storage at Melville by: (1) identifying on the schedules those records authorized for storage, (2) monitoring the actual shipment of records sent to storage to ensure compliance with the schedules, (3) monitoring borrowing of records sent to storage to ensure they are returned, and (4) monitoring the formal destruction of stored records as directed by the schedules.

Bachelors degree required

Minimum 4 to 6 years in records retention or records management

Certification as a Certified Records Manager (CRM) is desirable but is not required
