Social Media and Online Engagement Manager – Dart Container – Lincolnshire, IL


The Social Media and Online Engagement Manager will drive differentiation and engagement with the Solo brand and preference for Solo-branded products. Serve as the lead strategist on social media marketing, responsible for articulating social media plans and leading and executing their implementation.

Specific Duties:

  • Manage agency partners
  • Lead strategy development and execution of social media campaigns and evaluate results.
  • Develop set of company-specific best practices over time to build capability and set standards for execution.
  • Stay abreast of emerging social media tools and trends. Benchmark and monitor competitor and industry leaders in social media.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Recommend future programs based on learnings in the Social Media space.
  • Lead efforts to build online communities; acquire, retain and engage audiences; and coordinate online campaigns.
  • Create content and manage editorial calendars to ensure continuous and optimized presence on social media platforms (i.e. posts, tweets, blogs, videos, RSS feeds, etc.).
  • Recommend appropriate and optimal channels to maximize content delivery to target audiences.
  • Implement social media programs and technology to create innovative and creative campaigns in support of product, brand and marketing initiatives.
  • Work closely with Legal to ensure compliance with company branding and social media disclosure guidelines.
  • Capture online feedback from consumers and other fans and provide it to internal teams for consideration in future content creation and messaging. Oversee all company social media activities to ensure a coordinated, unified message and presence across tactics and businesses. This includes but is not limited to blogger outreach, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other social media activities yet to be identified and pursued.
  • Assist other communicators (i.e. Human Resources/Recruiting) with creating content for social media and in targeting social media usage.
  • Monitor company’s broad social media presence across relevant sites and platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.). Manage online presence by regularly listening to participants in company-owned and non-company-owned properties and discussion forums.
  • Facilitate and drive user-generated content. Identify threats and opportunities in online conversation; proactively develop responses to anticipated situations and enable effective reactive responses.
  • Manage the company’s and the brand’s voice in the external online social environment.
  • Ensure appropriate and beneficial linkages between the company’s social media initiatives and its digital marketing activities including corporate and brand websites, online storefronts, product locator, digital advertising and couponing activities.
  • Assist with day-to-day creation and maintenance of digital assets including images, tabs, website pages related to social media initiatives, etc.
  • Own and manage content management/tracking and measurement system (i.e. Shoutlet, Hootsuite, Spredfast, etc.).
  • Lead efforts to determine key metrics and KPIs for annual programs and specific campaigns.
  • Track target audience activity on social media channels. Analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in order to maximize results and refine future strategic planning.
  • Interact with agency and vendor partners on a daily basis to execute social media activities. These include but may not be limited to social media agencies, public relations firms, marketing agencies, photographers, video production houses and content management services.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Liberal Arts or related field
  • Seven years working experience in a public relations agency, staff communications position and/or word-of-mouth marketing position
  • Demonstrated writing skills for social media and web
  • Thorough understanding of and hands-on familiarity with existing and emerging social media channels
  • Experience using content management systems and/or databases to develop and maintain digital communications platforms
  • Consumer response management experience
  • Demonstrated budget management experience
  • Ability to think on one’s feet, good judgment and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle record
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically
  • Website development and/or website management experience, preferred
  • Ten years working experience in a public relations agency, staff communications position and/or word-of-mouth marketing position, preferred
