Software Development Manager – Veriforce – Shenandoah, TX


As Software Development Manager you will plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects. Lead and guide the work of technical staff. Serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects. Plan project stages and assess business implications for each stage. Monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. Additionally, administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases. Information asset owners have a role in maintaining the inventory of assets under their responsibility and specifying confidentiality, integrity and availability requirements for them. Information asset owners are also accountable for the risk assessment and implementation of adequate controls for the information assets under their management.

Responsibilities:
Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Develop or update project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing. Monitor or track project milestones and deliverables. Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems. Develop and manage work breakdown structure (WBS) of information technology projects. Submit deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Direct or coordinate activities of project personnel. Establish and execute a project communication plan. Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of authority to project personnel. Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications. Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes. Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Train users and answer questions. Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database. Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems such as the installation of new databases. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information. Conduct inventory asset valuation for assets within their responsibility. Conduct risk assessment for high valued assets at least once per year. Assist Information Security Management with the implementation of adequate controls to mitigate the risks associated with threats to their assets. Supports, participates and adheres to the organization’s Information Security Management System program, complying with all established policies and procedures relating to the ISMS including, but not limited to: Responsible for the protection of company information assets under their care or operation All employees have a professional duty to report any information security issues or incidents or situations that present potential security risks to their direct supervisor and/or the Management Representative Operate within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. More than ten (10) years related experience and/or training preferably in the Energy or Pipeline industry. Prefer experience in Web Application Developer and Database Developer experience. Demonstrate work experience with at least one relational database management system. Demonstrates proficiency in at least one structured programming language. Understands Company production server and internet systems architectures. Experience or knowledge about RSS feeds and XML is a plus.
