Position Overview:
The Senior HRIS Specialist is proficient in PeopleSoft Human Capital Management and knowledge of one or more of the following modules: Base Benefits, Payroll for North America and ePerformance. The Senior HRIS Specialist has proven analytical skills and, in combination with functional knowledge, can query and build reports using SQL, PeopleSoft Query and other reporting tools. The Senior HRIS Specialist is familiar with the software development lifecycle and has experience in writing test scripts, in performing regression testing, assisting with tax updates and has participated in module implementations, mergers and other significant project work. This position requires someone who can develop requirements, create and execute test scripts and perform end user testing. Assist with ugrades, updates, module implementations, customizations and mergers.


  • Serves as a liaison between Human Resources and IT/PeopleSoft staff to effect programming changes and implement users’ requests and system enhancements.
  • Works with fellow HR and IT colleagues to create functional requirements as related to new functionality, fixes, and customization of pages, processes etc.
  • Assists in projects including module implementations, upgrades, tax updates, and various integration efforts.
  • Creates technical, interface-related test scripts and carries out the testing using the extraction and reporting tools available in order to create test scripts, build and test scenarios.
  • Responsible for control table entry in PeopleSoft – and can supervise or coordinate such efforts being performed by another member of the HRIS team.
  • Works with trees, particularly the department security tree, and handles many security-based tasks: user profile creation, provisioning of roles/permission lists, dynamic roles, process security and the like. Where applicable, monitors data entry by employees and HR Staff.
  • Uses advanced knowledge and analytical skills pertaining to HRIS in order to guide members of HR. Will provide statistical and analytical data to support the basis for informed decision making.
  • Uses the appropriate tools in order to identify variances and researches discrepancies to ensure the soundness of the HRIS. This individual works alongside the HRIS Manager to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of the HRIS.
  • Creates training materials and presentations that can be used by fellow members in Human Resources. Capable of performing training via phone, web or in person.

This position requires a BS in an Information Systems discipline. A minimum of 5 years working in Human Resources and at least 3 years having worked with PeopleSoft HCM is required. The incumbent should have practical knowledge of HRIS, excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with information in a confidential manner. Additionally, the Sr. HRIS Specialist should have the following qualifications:

  • Subject matter expert of PeopleSoft’s core HCM: Proficient in the use of the core PeopleSoft HCM module: navigation, methods to update and correct information, searching for help, setting up favorites etc.
  • Proficient capability in respect to using any 3rd party reporting tool; PeopleSoft’s Query Manager ia a plus.
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing and Business Analytics software is desirable.
  • Experience and some working knowledge of PeopleSoft Security Administration and Process Scheduler is necessary.
  • Subject matter expert in any one of the following modules: PeopleSoft’s Base Benefits, North American Payroll and ePerformance.
  • Proficient using some intermediate/advanced features found in Microsoft Office such as pivot tables, statistical and logical formulas, conditional formatting, etc.
