Canon USA’s Healthcare Optics Research Lab (HORL) is a young organization that is gaining momentum. We’re partnering with the Harvard affiliated world class hospitals in the Boston area (including the #1 ranked hospital in the U.S, according to U.S. News & World Report) to create high impact medical products. The Sr. Manager of Product Marketing will be a senior member of HORL and will assist and develop global markets for new diagnostic imaging and image guidance products. Success in this role will be predicated on your ability to shape and implement strategic insights derived from clinical observations reimbursement and regulatory trends, customer interviews, academic and clinical publications, technological developments and industry market data.
The Manager will work collaboratively with project team members, senior management, practitioners and other collaborators, to guide the evolution of our strategy and market development activities. The Manager must have a proven track record of identifying new markets and positioning products for successful launches.
This position has responsibility to execute commercial strategies, development plans, and help bring our diagnostic imaging platforms to market.
Coordinate and lead all aspects of product platform market planning activities using internal and external data, meeting facilitation, data collection, and communications to senior management and development teams.
Drive efforts to collect project related feedback from key opinion leaders and stakeholders to translate the feedback into clear user needs and requirements.
Lead observation and shadowing of clinical procedures to understand unmet needs and user requirements.
As a core team member on cross-functional project teams you will provide customer requirements on disposable, hardware, and software throughout the development and commercialization process.
Analyze the competitive environment and clearly defines product positioning, key issues, key benefits, key selling features and target markets for the diagnostic imaging product lines.
Investigate new markets for platform technologies that are in their formative stages.
Guides strategic decision making on which markets and requirements should be included in the development of first generation product future generations.
Facilitate implementation of business plans and marketing strategies to build and launch profitable product solution platforms that support growth.
Provide expertise relative to clinical and scientific literature assessments.
Support both project-based and ongoing strategic planning activities (market analytics, financial modeling, data analysis).
Select, develop, and manage personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
MBA preferred, life science/pre-med or engineering degree is a plus.
8 years of marketing experience in an FDA regulated medical environment
3 years of people management experience
Extensive experience in collection, analysis, and synthesis of research data into strategic action plans
Proven track record of success at guiding product development from concept to launch
Strong combination of technical, medical and business understanding – ideally in cath lab, image guidance, and/or endoscope spaces
Familiarity with user-centered design and design thinking methods is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions
Availability to travel up to 40%.
