Seeds Sales Representative

Under the supervision of a District Sales Manager, the sales representative is responsible for the overall development and management of a sales territory to achieve annual sales plans. Aligned with regional and company goals, the sales representative is responsible for selling and servicing Mycogen Seeds products and will continually develop a reselling dealer network to jointly target growers who possess a long-term sustainable business.
Responsible to recruit, train, develop and motivate an active reselling dealer network within the territory aimed at increasing sales volume.
Responsible to identify and build relationships with key corn and soybean growers with the intent to help customers understand the benefits, positioning and placement of hybrids, varieties and traits offered by Mycogen Seeds.
Manage current reselling dealers and achieve sales goals in the assigned territory in support of the business strategy and marketing plan.
Build and continually develop an engaged reselling dealer network.
Actively engage the larger selling team including agronomy, nutrition, market developers, and account management to identify and satisfy dealer and grower needs.
Implement Mycogen’s go-to market strategy at the dealer and grower level.
Track progress using key metrics to continually improve implementation.
Build relationships with key grower customers and prospects to increase the sales of Mycogen Seeds products in the assigned territory.
Manage quality orders aligned to a grower, control returns and support shipping activities.
Effectively communicate customer benefits through a good technical understanding of the Mycogen Seeds commercial line up.
Actively promote the dealer and grower benefits of marketing programs and provide feedback to marketing on customer response.
Keep abreast of local market trends, customer needs, competitive products, programs and pricing structures and provide ongoing feedback to sales and marketing teams.
Work collaboratively with reselling dealers, Mycogen agronomists/nutritionists and account managers to team sell and deliver value.
Professionally conduct meetings with reselling dealers and grower customers/prospects.
Effectively and proactively manage customer service calls and/or complaints.
Manage expense budgets, flex fund budgets and marketing programs with fiduciary and ethical responsibility.
Provide timely product forecasts for the assigned territory through an understanding of local customer needs, working with reselling dealers and collaboration with local agronomists on current and new products in the portfolio.
Conduct business in a safe and ethical manner. Maintain company vehicle and records properly, maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Perform other duties as required.
Conduct all activities with a high level of professionalism and represent Mycogen Seeds and Dow AgroSciences each day in a manner that is ethical, respectful and would reflect positively on Mycogen Seeds and Dow AgroSciences
The Sales Representative Interacts closely with:
Grower Customers, Reselling Dealers, Regional Sales Leaders, District Sales Managers, Portfolio Marketing Leaders, Product Managers, Customer Agronomists, Nutritionists, Regional Account Managers and Customer Service
Measurement of Success:
Achievement of annual sales plan.
Achievement of seasonal campaign goals including grower order benchmark goals.
Achievement of seasonal shipment goals.
On-time completion of GRO+ Metrics.
100% shippable orders.
Bachelors Degree Required. Relevant disciplines: agronomy, agriculture, business, biology or related sciences field.
Two or more years of agriculture sales experience within the Ag chemical and/or seed industry is required.
Lift a 60 lbs (seed bag)
Valid US Driver’s License.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Five or more years of seed sales experience with demonstrated record of success is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to advocate/build business with multi-brand reselling dealers
Desire and skillset to make on-farm sales calls and service, innovator
Demonstrates agronomic aptitude/technical skills; business skills and interests
Strong one-on-one and group presentation skills
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork
Proficiency in computer technology
Comfortable with risk; accepts individual responsibility and accountability
Strong administrative and organizational skills – deadline oriented
Maintains a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
