Web Communications Administrator, Health Programs – New York University – New York, NY


Work directly with the faculty and staff of NYU Steinhardt’s four health departments (Nutrition and Food Studies; Communicative Sciences and Disorders; Occupational Therapy; and Physical Therapy) to write, update and maintain all online properties for these departments, including, but not limited to: websites, news and announcements, social media, email communication and newsletters, videos, and others. This person will coordinate departmental efforts with the work of Steinhardt’s communication and web teams to help create and deploy integrated marketing and communications solutions for a variety of audiences, including prospective and current students and faculty, alumni, parents, and external visitors. Finally, this position will offer faculty and staff support for web-based tools including content management, faculty bios, and event calendars.

Qualifications/Required Education:
BA in marketing, communications, English, management or related field.

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree

Required Experience:
Min. 2-3 years of related experience in marketing, social media, web writing, online news and journalism, or website content development

Preferred Experience:
Expertise using web-based software and applications, particulary content management systems. Familiarity with and/or interest in health issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):

Excellent verbal communication skills. Excellent skills in writing for both print and online platforms. Proficiency using web-based software and applications, particularly content management systems. Basic familiarity with HTML/XHTML and CSS. Basic experience working with both audio and video files and have a basic understanding of multimedia editing software. Knowledge of standard office software. Basic understanding of photography, image compression and Photoshop, GIMP, or other image editing software.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):

Basic familiarity with Javascript or jQueryFamiliarity with public APIs and embeddable web content (Google Maps, YouTube, RSS/XML feeds)
