For people with questions, the process is pretty straightforward; post a question, pay a fee, and get matched with an expert in that area. The user communicates with the expert however they please—talk, text, chat—and can even send the expert documents or photos.

As part of the verification process, you have to send JustAnswer:

• Copies of your credentials (school transcripts, certifications, or licenses)
• Your ID
• Your Social Security Number
• A recent photo

To start your application, give JustAnswer your name and a few personal details (including part of your social security number and date of birth). Then you’ll tell them what you’re an expert in. You’ll start with a main category, then select up to two subcategories.

The main categories can be anything from “general” to “finance” to “medical.” Then, depending on what main category you pick, you’ll be able to select from a number of subcategories. Some of these subcategories are:
