Working remotely doesn’t only mean working from your couch. For some people, working remotely means having the freedom to live anywhere and pursue their lifelong dreams. Tahlon S. dreamed of living in Columbia full-time but was working at a job that would not allow him to work remotely or live abroad. In search of a company that would support his goal of living abroad, Tahlon joined FlexJobs.
In Search of a Flexible Opportunity
Tahlon was impressed with the quality of the jobs he found. “FlexJobs does an amazing job of putting together real positions with real companies.” He wasn’t just impressed with the quality and quantity of the jobs, though. Tahlon appreciated the ability to filter his job searches and adjust his search preferences regularly. Over time, this led to him finding better opportunities that not only interested him but that he was qualified for.
Eventually, Tahlon found a company that allowed him to pursue his dream of living in Columbia full-time. Working as a travel agent, all he needs “is a strong and reliable internet connection.” And because he works for an American company, his salary goes further in Columbia, allowing him to immerse himself in the culture.
More Than a Dream Job
Even though Tahlon is living his dream now, he’s found additional benefits to working remotely. “I believe I am more productive working remotely,” he says. And, when Tahlon returns to America for visits, he doesn’t have to use up his vacation time. He can take his job with him and combine his work with return trips to home or wherever he goes.
Tahlon thinks that remote work is the future and that more companies will allow employees to live wherever they want. That’s why he advises job seekers considering a FlexJobs membership to start with the three-month plan “to give yourself enough time to really go through the options that come up.” That’s good advice given that “FlexJobs does an amazing job at putting together real positions with real companies all in one place.”
