Function is looking for a Video/Audio Editor who loves to tell stories. Somewhat of a Jill/Jack of all trades, you will team up with our client’s marketing and design teams to concept and produce a variety of product video content.

Whether it’s turning around a quick animated GIF for a tweet, creating a product demo video, or editing a podcast, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while also having the opportunity to experiment with other creative ideas.

You’ll be instrumental in telling our client’s story across marketing and product through motion, animation, and video.

Responsibilities:

  • Bring our client’s product to life in videos and GIFs across our various marketing channels, like website, ads, email, and others
  • Partner with the Marketing team to produce impactful content for our online social channels and community events
  • Create content that is in line with our Brand Style guide and work with our Creative team to define and evolve our animation style
  • Help us figure out new creative channels and pursuits we should be doing here (e.g. podcast)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Have 2-3 years as a motion designer/video editor at an agency, production company, or in-house creative team
  • Can execute with a keen eye for detail and craftsmanship and consideration of deadlines and constraints
  • Have a strong portfolio that demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, 3-act story structure, rhythm and narrative development
  • Are a self-starter who can handle multiple projects with minimal oversight
  • Communicate and present effectively when explaining your creative vision
  • Knowledge of multi-tracking, audio mixing, editing and export.
  • Are always willing to roll up your sleeves and help out on any project
  • Stays current on design trends and where the industry is moving.

Software expectations:

  • Are an expert with tools like AfterEffects or Premiere and at light sound editing, mixing and color correction
  • Some knowledge in one or more commonly used audio editing applications such as: Logic Pro x, Garageband, Protools, Audition CC, and/or Ableton Live
  • Comfortable working with vector-based programs such as Sketch, Figma, Affinity, Illustrator CC; and photo editing software such as Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC.
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Media encoder — efficient at exporting video and animations into a variety of formats.

Bonus points:

  • Character rigging in After Effects CC, Animate CC, and 3D software such as Cinema 4D.

Knowledge of 3D applications such as Blender, Maya, Zbrush, Cinema 4D
Understanding of typography and UI best practices

  • Knowledge of multi-tracking, audio mixing, editing and export.
  • Able to work both digitally and with traditional materials as well.
  • Knowledge of Lottie, or similar plugins used for the integration of After Effects animations into Javascript, CSS, and HTML
  • Knowledge of multi-tracking, audio mixing, editing and export.
  • Understanding of audio equipment, sound proofing, mic placement and basic recording techniques
  • Understanding of RSS feeds, podcast formatting, and uploads.
