Responsible for developing and managing HTML and Drupal-based websites and engaging interactive digital media projects for the University. This position integrates analytics tools and programs dashboards and reports to enable teams to make data-driven decisions across our communication channels. Analyzes search engine activity and website usage patterns. Keeps abreast of new and emerging tools and technologies. Oversees integration and operation of Lehigh’s licensed public events calendar and Google search engine. - Creates standards-compliant HTML and Drupal-based websites and other forms of interactive digital communications utilizing modern responsive web design techniques and CSS and JS code frameworks
- Stays informed of best practices and emerging trends in the area of web development, UX and UI design; identifies, evaluates and recommends adoption of new technologies, innovative tools and more efficient techniques where appropriate
- Ensures production work complies with communication and visual design standards and University privacy, computing and security policies
- Utilizes licensed quality assurance software to identify and resolve technical errors and help assure web content complies with Section 508 federal accessibility guidelines
- Compiles benchmark studies, programs online surveys and conducts other website research as needed to test customer-effectiveness of websites and to inform ongoing development
- Tracks and reports on project milestones throughout the development process
- Uses version control software such as Git and ensures project-related source code, documentation, style guides and other assets are properly archived
- Participates in tests of Lehigh’s emergency messaging systems and publishes emergency preparedness information to the University website
- Integrates self-service analytics tools, programs dashboards and compiles reports to help identify usage patterns and make specific recommendations
- Manages Lehigh’s Google search engine and Google Tag Manager Event Tracking functionality across all top-tier websites
- Proactively programs dashboards and compiles activity reports using Google Analytics, Data Studio, Supermetrics and other analytics tools to analyze usage patterns and to provide insights and recommended action
- Analyzes search engine queries and keyword terms to identify emerging trends, gauge impact of various SEO and SEM efforts and help predict visitor interests
- Manages the functionality of the University’s Google search engine instance and programs special promotions on search query results to increase discoverability of prioritized web pages, announcements and stories and other content
- Manages Google tracking code and programs Google Tag Manager Event Tracking functionality across all top-tier websites and provides instruction and technical advice to other developers as need
- Advises and supports the events calendar coordinator and collaborates with the systems engineering team to automate a daily email extract of events and announcements
- Develops Lehigh-branded theming and implements content RSS feeds across the University’s website to highlight lectures, conferences, cultural and entertainment activities and other events
- Monitors uptime and general availability of the University’s externally-hosted public events calendar system (Localist)
- Offers instruction, HTML code,and technical advice as needed to support the content curation and publishing effort of the events calendar coordinator
- Coordinates vendor-initiated product software updates, submits support tickets, troubleshoots and requests feature enhancements to improve service and minimize disruption
- Collaborates with the University’s systems engineering team to troubleshoot and automate distribution of the daily Upcoming Lehigh Events and Announcements email
- Troubleshoots digital publishing-related issues through research, trial and error or with the help of contracted support
- Collects specific information from users about problems and either works to resolve the issues directly or reports them to collaborate as a team on a proposed solution
- Performs a series of tasks to narrow the scope of the problem, or presents multiple options to resolve the technical issues
- Assists and participates in the testing of new devices, systems, workflows, software upgrades and feature enhancements

The duties of this position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
This position has additional working hour requirements: Remote access or physical office work may be required in the event of a communications emergency
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Communications, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five to eight years related work experience
Experience developing HTML and Drupal-based websites
Experience using Google Analytics, Data Studio
Working within organization’s brand standards
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas clearly
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with different deadlines and priority levels
Solid analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
