POSITION SUMMARY: The Instructional Developer develops, implements, documents, and maintains instructor led and online learning content for the Boys Town University and Youth Care internal training. This position also coordinates with IT, Compliance, Human Resources, and other departments to maintain and enhance the online training environment for the organization. Additionally, Applies instructional design standards, including needs analysis, review of research, developing learning objectives and strategies, defining content, selecting appropriate learning approach and activities, sequencing content and activities, storyboarding, testing, surveying and overall course design to quickly deploy coursework. Develops learning solutions enabled or enhanced by the Internet, intranet, extranet, or other electronic media; develops materials for online delivery with an understanding of compression, bitrates, delivery platforms, and bandwidth restrictions.

Develops instructional material and curriculum, coordinates, writes, and edits educational content, and incorporates technology into learning solutions. Also manages new instructor-led, virtual, and online course development projects as well as maintenance of existing coursework. Ensures training for each program and position supports the Boys Town Model and complies with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements such as COA and state licensing requirements. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or equivalent.

3 to 5 years of experience including instructional design, multimedia development and project management; experience with internal applications such as Captivate, Learning Management Systems, Banner, and National Database is preferred. Experience with Boys Town model of care preferred. Available to travel. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.

Ability to learn and apply new technologies and products quickly in a fast-paced environment. Analytical and problem solving skills. Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and teamwork. Knowledge of computer graphics and design software.

Ability to use specialized computer software packages (such as Adobe Premiere, Flash, Sound booth, Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate) to create layouts and design. Ability to interpret the customer’s business needs. Ability to build Web based curriculum based upon a sound understanding of adult learning theories. Ability to define appropriate learning technology, including multi-media, classroom, web-based, CBT, distance learning self-study classroom, self-study for results focused learning.

Ability to utilize web technologies such as RSS feeds, BLogs, Wiki’s, Discussion Threads, and Podcasts to further communication and social learning.
