The incumbent will function as a member of the Communications & Strategic Development Team, and reports to the Assistant Vice President, Communications

Job Location: Washington, DC

Position Summary:
The Manager, Social Media assists in the implementation of the organization’s communications and strategic development work bringing their social media expertise to the table to advance our strategic goals. We are looking for a creative big thinker. The Manager, Social Media represents the National Council brand through social media. The manager grows the National Council brand by:

  • Developing digital communications plans to support the organization’s strategic goals and membership, increasing engagement and awareness of our brand
  • Developing and implementing social media marketing strategies, for engagement on social media platforms
  • Managing National Council’s daily social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram), using a wide and every changing host of new media platforms including blogging, chat rooms, discussion boards, RSS feeds and search platforms
  • Managing social media ambassadors for our annual conference; live tweeting throughout conference; presentation as needed on social media
  • Developing and creating content for use on social media channels including blog posts, fact sheets and other items.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field
  • At least 6 years’ experience in communications, proficiency across social media channels, strong relationships with social media leaders in health care and personal and active engagement in social media; preference given to health care experience
  • In depth knowledge of social media analytics and reporting
  • High level of expertise in writing, brand development and management; project management experience preferred
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • High level proficiency in Microsoft Office—MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with social media tools (Buffer, HootSuite), website technologies/publishing platforms, Drupal preferred
  • Ability to contribute to a strong team-based environment
  • Results-oriented with a high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
