Specific Job Description (Accountabilities & Requirements)

Lattice/SiBEAM is seeking an experienced wireless algorithms engineer to architect, simulate and characterize state-of-the-art gigabit communication systems operating in the 60GHz band. Responsibilities include:

  • Architect, simulate and analyze advanced wireless communication systems and related digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
  • Architect and evaluate smart antenna algorithms
  • Optimize and partition algorithms for implementation in fixed point silicon and/or software
  • Support silicon bringup, debug and system characterization
  • Generate models and specifications for RF subsystem
  • Propose and evaluate PHY and MAC algorithms to support gigabit multi-user wireless systems
  • Contribute to wireless standards such as IEEE 802.11
  • Guide and mentor junior members of the team
  • Interface with key external customers and partners

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of wireless communication theory and associated signal processing algorithms (such as symbol timing recovery, filtering and interpolation, channel estimation and equalization, modulation and demodulation, OFDM, MIMO, pilot tracking, STC, MRC, antenna diversity, Viterbi, Turbo, LDPC decoders, stochastic signal processing,
  • Expert using MATLAB/C/C++ for algorithm development, modelling and simulation
  • Detailed understanding of wireless PAN, LAN, WAN, 802.11ad MAC and PHY is highly desirable
  • Ability to architect, evaluate and debug complex systems that span PHY, MAC, RF, antenna, digital design and software in challenging channel conditions is highly desirable
  • Experienced in lab based silicon bringup, able to direct lab based resources as needed
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • BS with 10+ years experience, MS with 8+ years experience, or Ph.D. with 4+ years experience
